The Ultimate Throwie Throwie

This is how to make The Ultimate Throwie Throwie and get out of jail for as cheap as possible. First you will need the following:

1. About 10 -12 LED Throwies
2. A fan – We found one on the street.
3. A power supply outside.
4. A crowded place for people to watch.

First You will need to find a fan. We found one on the side of the street. Remove the front cover of the fan. This is so that you can put the Throwies on the blades of the fan.

Attach the LED’s so that one is on one side and one on the other. They will hold eachother onto the blades.

You know need to find a place that has power and is crowded. Union Square was the perfect place to release the LED Throwie Throwie. Open the cover of a street lamp. You will just need to unscrew the bolt (usually just hand tight) and open the lid. You will find a plug conveniently for your fan.

You are now ready to let the fan rip. Start the fan on low let it start up and then turn it on high. Stand back and watch the Throwies Throw.

There are some setbacks with the Ultimate Throwie Throwie. Due to the times that we live in the general public may have concerns of the appearances of an LED. If you just so happen to find yourself in trouble with the authorities for such an act. Blame it on art school. I running into such a situation found it a safe and cheap way out of jail.

In all seriousness LED Throwies are a blast but not to be taken lightly. They are an interesting take on public space and graffiti art. Granted they can harm the environment, but they are removable. If you choose to explore the public realm or graffiti art with LED’s don’t take it out on the authorities. See where the stand on the topic, put yourself in their shoes. They have no choice but to take the appropriate actions. The real fight should be against the people that clutter the public space with junk; the crude and intrusive advertisements. Find those targets and “Throwie” them.

Indestructible iPod

This is my iPod; I’ve had it for about three years now. Let’s just say that this iPod has taken its share of falls. The other day tops them without a doubt. I’m riding my bike up 6th Ave late for class. I’m in the middle of the road, cause you can ride the fastest there. I’m listing to some good music, new stuff I just got. As I pass 11th street I see my iPod start to rise out of my pocket. Since my bike only has a front brake I could make any quick moves. I see the iPod shoot into the air and at that second said, “There it goes – done”. The iPod slams to the road and slides down the street. Remember that this is 6th Ave, one busy street. I start to pullover and see that a nice taxi just ran right over it. I say, “Ahhoo DONE!” I am dreading to go look at it. I see some lady trying to grab it, but I run and pick it up. I look at the screen and yes, the iPod was still playing, I could not believe it. There were really now dent and it was all still in one piece.

To think, this was the iPod that Apple recalled but I never sent it in. I have to say this is the indestructible iPod.

Rode in Critical Mass this month. I was the only long-boarded and people were questioning if I could keep up. Ha little did they know, I was leading the pack at times. After all the fun only one girl was arrested for standing on the sidewalk eating ice cream. We will ride on!

Just launched a project I did this semester, City Paths. In a way it is a redesign for the project I did last semester Presence. The application works with live or recorded video data. This makes the concept come across much better, and there is much more feedback. Take a look.

99&9 is a documentation project for the 99 yeas of Communications Design and the 9 yeas of Design and Technology at Parsons. I set up several cameras around the area all running my Degree Time Lapse program. This project was a blast, the piece came out beautiful. Go and have a look (2 West 13st), while its still up.

This is the first attempt on a project I’m working on Degree Time Lapse. The footage was done with an iSight, so the video quality is not the best. I will have a project page up shortly. The video is about 5 hours in one minute.

This is a rig for a camera to capture 180° over a period of time.

Me the Balloon

The idea was to make a :30 film about yourself. I guess I choose to use a red balloon. The balloon is a metaphor for my travels and routine through the city. I am following the system but observing my surrounds like a balloon. The statement at the end is to make you think just a little more and question your everyday routine.

Here is my transit strike interview, unfortunately the photo didn’t make it in. I was “slaloming” haha.

Parsons & NYC

Haven’t posted really anything about Parsons and NYC. I finally started to bring my camera around so ill have some more pictures up soon. School is amazing, It is so hard to explain to people what I’m doing. Classes are really hard but I can’t get enough of them. I’ve met awesome people and have a good group of friends. NY night life is something else, this city really never sleeps. Ill get some more photos up.

This was an amazing show. Everyone from Bill Clinton to Dave Matthews showed up. I feel lucky to have seen so many amazing artist under one roof. Our seats were beat but a little of Todd magic gets you 10 rows back. What a time, first concert in NYC, all for a good cause.
